STILLWATER, Minn. — Longtime Stillwater Medical Group podiatrist, Michael R. Bourne, DPM, recently addressed our nation’s leaders in an effort to make healthcare more affordable for Minnesotans.
Bourne and other members of the Minnesota Podiatric Medical Association talked with members of Congress and U.S. Senators last month about podiatric issues and legislation. “We’re advocating for podiatry on a federal and state level,” he said. “It’s important to us as a profession and benefits the people of Minnesota.”
In November, Bourne was elected president of the Minnesota Podiatric Medical Association. The organization includes 125 podiatrists from around the state. “I’ve been busy working on insurance coverage issues that affect podiatry in Minnesota,” he said.
From 1991-1999, Bourne practiced as a visiting podiatry specialist at Stillwater Medical Group. In 1999, he was hired as the clinic’s only podiatrist. In 2005, Bourne was joined by Trent Steenblock, DPM, who practices in Stillwater and in Somerset, Wis.
Bourne, who lives in Lake Elmo, is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association, American College of Foot and Ankle Surgery, American Board of Podiatric Review and the American Academy of Podiatric Sports. He offers a full scope of surgical and medical care of the foot and ankle. Bourne specializes in the care of structural conditions, trauma-related injuries, skin and nail conditions and congenital deformities utilizing surgical corrections, biomechanical orthotics and medical interventions at Stillwater Medical Group’s Main Clinic in Stillwater.
